IMPORTANT: Before applying, confirm with your State and County Health Department that no additional restrictions, license or permit is required to offer ear piercing in your area. If so, follow the additional processes to ensure you are compliant with your local health department.
STUDEX PIERCING ACADEMY Courses
BASIC COURSE $50 (Includes 1 Student)
If you’re an established STUDEX piercer that requires a certificate of achievement and no training from STUDEX, this basic course is for you! This course is a requirement for all piercers in California and New Jersey as well as licensed cosmetologists in Virginia and Ohio. Piercers in any other state / industry nationwide are welcome to apply for this course.
Upon completion, you will receive a basic certificate of achievement from STUDEX. If you prefer more detailed hands-on training, a degree with our highest level of certification, exclusive discounts, STUDEX BUCKS and access to ongoing training support, apply for our "Pro Course" instead.

PRO COURSE $500 (Includes 1 Student)
Enroll for our most popular course to become a STUDEX Certified Ear Piercing Specialist! This offers 90-minutes of online modules filled with detailed information and videos to ensure comprehension. These 8 modules are accessible via a desktop or mobile device and taken at your own pace. We compliment these with a 2.5-hour interactive hands-on virtual training hosted by a STUDEX Certified Educator. You’ll have access to these training resources on-going as well as the option to join our monthly virtual mixer for further coaching and the latest and greatest with piercing ears.
Upon graduation, you will receive a degree with our highest level of certification. Your customers will be thrilled to know a STUDEX Certified Ear Piercing Specialist is piercing their ears!! TRAIN THE TRAINER COURSE $1,400 (Includes 1 Student)
If you need a trainer to host trainings on demand for your store, STUDEX has the perfect solution with our Train The Trainer Course! 1 employee of your choice will start by completing our Pro Course. This offers 90-minutes of online modules filled with detailed information and videos to ensure comprehension. These 8 modules are accessible via a desktop or mobile device and taken at your employee’s pace. We compliment these with a 2.5-hour interactive hands-on virtual training hosted by a STUDEX Certified Educator.
Next, your trainer will join STUDEX for a 30-minute model piercing experience. This ensures your trainer is fully comfortable and confident with all facets of piercing with STUDEX products. Lastly, we wrap up this course with a 2-hour interactive hands-on virtual Train The Trainer session. This teaches new trainers how to setup for training, required supplies, how to demonstrate all hands-on sections and more.

MY 1ST PIERCING EXPERIENCE $200 (Includes 1 Student)
Ready for your 1st ear piercing but don’t want to do it alone. Add an interactive 1st piercing experience with a STUDEX Certified Educator. You will join STUDEX for a 30-minute virtual session to perform your 1st ear piercing experience on your model from beginning to end. The STUDEX Certified Educator will take detailed notes, support you as needed and share feedback with you at the end of your service. Piercers MUST BE trained on STUDEX System 75 or Universal prior to the scheduled piercing experience.

STUDEX UNIVERSITY FAQs
Q. What do I need to apply for STUDEX UNIVERSITY courses?
A. Complete the desired application above. If you are already an approved STUDEX customer, provide your 6-digit STUDEX customer #. If you are new to STUDEX and own a business, upload 1 proof of business document issued by your State which includes your business name, business address and your name as the registered owner. See application for list of documents accepted. Upload identification for each student enrolling to receive their certificate.
Q. Can I apply for STUDEX UNIVERSITY courses if I don’t own a business?
A. If you’re a service professional that doesn’t own a business, apply for our “Pro Course” and upload 2 forms of proof of professional services. See application for list of documents accepted. Upload identification for student enrolling to receive their certificate.
Q. Is there a fee for STUDEX UNIVERSITY courses?
A. Yes, if taking a course with Alumni Benefits you will receive 60% of the amount paid in STUDEX BUCKS to apply towards STUDEX products.
Q. Can I take more than 1 course?
A. Yes, once approved you may enroll for as many courses as you’d like. If enrolling for courses with Alumni Benefits, you may attend unlimited virtual trainings and mixers for ongoing training support.
Q. How will I know if I’m approved to enroll for STUDEX UNIVERSITY?
A. STUDEX will contact you by phone and email within 3 days to share your application status. If approved, you will receive an email invitation to begin your online modules. If you are not approved, we will share details on how to reapply and the criteria needed to be approved.
Q. How long are STUDEX trainings?
A. STUDEX trainings vary from 30 minutes – 7 hours depending on the course(s) you enroll for.
Q. Am I required to have a certificate to perform ear piercings?
A. All piercers in California and New Jersey as well as licensed cosmetologists in Virginia and Ohio are required to have a certificate to perform ear piercing services. If you do not meet this criteria and still want to receive a certificate, we welcome you to enroll for our “Basic Course” for a certificate of achievement or our “Pro Course” for a degree with our highest level of certification.
Q. If I’m new to piercing ears, does the “Basic Course” share enough education to ensure my comfort with this new service?
A. No, the “Basic Course” is a refresher for establish ear piercers that would like a basic certificate of achievement. This high-level course is not recommended for new piercers, our “Pro Course” is the best option if your new to this service.
Q. Why are the “Pro Course” and “Elite Course” the most popular courses with STUDEX UNIVERSITY?
A. These courses offer our most thorough education, our highest level of certification, on-going training support and Alumni Benefits. These courses help to ensure your piercers don’t make preventable mistakes that could compromise your business. Students that graduate from these courses are proven to be more confident, comfortable and are more successful at engaging with clients and piercing their ears on their 1st day.
Q. How often are the 2.5-hour interactive hands-on virtual trainings available and are these one-on-one private sessions?
A. STUDEX offers multiple sessions monthly. They are not one-on-one private sessions and the number of attendees that join will vary.
Q. Does the Elite Course offer a certificate to each of my employees?
A. Yes, each employee in attendance will receive a degree with our highest level of certification and an exclusive magnetic STUDEX pin so your clients know a STUDEX Certified Ear Piercing Specialist is piercing their ears.
Q. How can I train more than 5 employees with the Elite Course?
A. The Elite Course includes 5 students; however you may add more students for just $200 for each additional student.
Q. Once I complete the “Train The Trainer” course, may I start selling and teaching STUDEX classes to people other than my employees?
A. No, you are not a STUDEX Certified Educator and not approved to sell and teach a STUDEX course. This is an “in house” option designed for your store’s employees when you experience turnover. If you are found selling and teaching STUDEX courses, your account with STUDEX will be terminated immediately and your certificate will be revoked.
Q. Are Alumni able to contact a STUDEX Certified Educator anytime I have a training question?
A. For training support Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm PT, you may contact a STUDEX customer service representative. To speak with a STUDEX Certified Educator, join our monthly virtual mixer and bring your questions to ask away.
Q. Do I have ongoing access to STUDEX UNIVERSITY online modules and trainings?
A. STUDEX Alumni have ongoing access to online modules, virtual trainings, and mixers.
Q. How do I get training supplies?
A. You may order a System 75 or Universal training kit by calling or emailing your STUDEX representative.
Q. What are STUDEX BUCKS and do they expire?
A. STUDEX BUCKS is credit applied to your account to purchase STUDEX products. They do not expire and are available until you spend every last BUCK.
Q. What platform does STUDEX use to host virtual trainings?
A. STUDEX uses Zoom for these virtual session, attendees do not need to create a Zoom account to join.
Q. What is a virtual mixer?
A. This is a virtual meeting hosted by a STUDEX Certified Educator that provides Alumni with tips to enhance their piercing service and the client’s experience. STUDEX will share a new topic during each mixer and encourages our Alumni to bring topics of their choice.
Q. How long are my Alumni Benefits active?
A. Alumni Benefits are active for 24 months.
Q. How long is my STUDEX certificate active?
A. STUDEX certificates are active for 24 months.
Q. How do I renew my certificate and my Alumni Benefits?
A. Renew both before they expire for just $200! You will take our refresher course and maintain Alumni Benefits for an additional 24 months. If your active status has expired, you may retake the desired course and start fresh.
Q. What if I change my mind and decide not to complete my STUDEX course(s)?
A. If you decide STUDEX UNIVERSITY is not for you, email your course cancelation to training@studex.com prior to starting your online modules. Once your cancelation is received and STUDEX confirms your modules have not been taken, a refund for 50% of your course will be issued and the remaining 50% will be applied as STUDEX BUCKS to your account for future orders.
